Rangnick contacted by Bayern over manager's job

Rumors have been intensively growing around Ralf Rangnick now for several days as the current Austrian national coach is dominating the headlines and social media

portals when it comes to a possible engagement as Bayern Munich's new head coach.

Several media in Germany and Austria report about negotiations and a decision within the upcoming days after Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso rejected a Bayern offer.

According to various German papers and the Austrian "Salzburger Nachrichten", the Austrian football association has already outlined the financial compensation in case the 65-year-old is taking the job as the successor of Thomas Tuchel.

Due to a valid contract until the summer of 2026, the association is expecting several million euros to approve their coach's departure.

Bayern's board member sport, Max Eberl, spoke about a matter of days until the Bavarians' new manager is going to be appointed officially.

German record international and TV pundit Lothar Matthaeus spoke about the former Hoffenheim, Leipzig, and United coach as a "developer who can provide new input for Bayern's talent campus together with his buddy Christoph Freund."

The 150-time caped midfielder said he is regarding the "German language" as vital for Bayern's next coach.

Freund and Rangnick had worked together in various positions at several Red Bull clubs such as Leipzig and Salzburg. Bayern's head of Campus, Jochen Sauer, aside from further Bayern talent coaches, have a common past.

Media reports speak of crucial points in the negotiations and say Rangnick is insisting on widespread competencies such as having the final word when it comes to transfers.

Former Tottenham midfielder and TV pundit Steffen Freund reported a recent conversation with Rangnick and said: "He is open to an engagement at Bayern."

Several reports talk of Bayern's influential supervisory board members Uli Hoeness and Karl-Heinz Rummenigge supporting the choice aside from chairman Jan-Christian Dreesen.

Reports say the coaching candidate and the club are puzzling over a convincing concept for taking Bayern back to glory after the side in this season's National League campaign failed to outpace the 2024 champion Leverkusen.

Bayern is said to solve their coaching case before April 30 when meeting Real on home soil for the first leg to entirely concentrate on the delicate duel.

When it comes to this season's Champions League, the Bavarians are one of the favorites to win the trophy when it comes to Matthaeus.

"It looks like the coach and team have moved together to a partnership of convenience. If I must name my personal choice, Bayern is going to make it," the former German international said despite the Bavarians crossing swords with Spanish giant Real in the semis.
